My name is Melissa Gonzalez, I am a Senior at Lanier High School. I was born and raised in Austin, TX. and I've taken the following Ag classes: Principles of Agriculture, Ag Mechanics, Principles and Elements of Floral Design 1, Advanced Plant and Soil, Advanced Animal Science and Horticulture Practicum. This is my third year as an FFA Officer for my chapter and this year I will serve as the chapter President. From a large group of students, I was selected as an ambassador for the 89th and 90th Annual Texas State FFA Convention. Some of my personal goals include of: finishing high school in the top 10% of my class, get better at public speaking/presenting in front of large groups of people, and last but not least to receive a higher National Chapter award than last year. Throughout my years of being involved in the FFA, not only have I've grown as an individual, but I've also grown as a leader. This year I will intern at Frytags to help me pursue my passion to become a Florist.

As a small child, I've always knew I wanted a career working with animals; Now that I am involved in my school’s FFA chapter, I can do just that. I have taken principles of Agriculture and other classes geared towards working with animals. I also plan to take Advanced Animal Science and do an internship at a Veterinary clinic this year. Alongside my dream of working with animals, this program has also allowed me to show a goat, get a Floral Certificate, and compete in Entomology. All of these opportunities have been a real blessing to me, and I feel nothing but love for this chapter and my Ag. teachers. This will be my second year as officer and strive to do my best for this FFA program that has done so much for me. I plan do great things with the committee I've been intrusted with, while keeping my grades as high as I can. I also strive work hard to surpass all of my limitations and become more social. Lastly, I plan to make the most of of this year as I pursue a Veterinary career in the future. |
